The Australian Constructors Association (ACA) today announced the reappointment of its current national executive team to lead the industry’s major construction businesses in 2019.
The ACA President, whose term expires at the end of 2019, is Craig Laslett, Managing Director of Lend Lease Engineering Pty Ltd. Scott Cummins, Chief Executive Officer of McConnell Dowell Corporation Limited and Cathal O’Rourke, Managing Director of Laing O’Rourke Australia Construction Pty Ltd were re – elected as Vice Presidents for another year.
“I am pleased to see both Cathal O’Rourke and Scott Cummins endorsed by the ACA Board to continue in their positions as Vice Presidents to assist me to lead the ACA through the next 12 months which promises to be both an exciting and challenging period for major construction and infrastructure businesses”, Mr Laslett said.
“The size and value of projects in the infrastructure pipelines of Australia’s governments, present special challenges for both the industry and its supply chain as well as for our clients.
Major infrastructure projects are unique in terms of the value that they add to society as well as the complexity of issues that they raise both in the planning and delivery stages. They require significant collaboration between client and contractor to be successful.
With this in mind, the ACA is very pleased that industry has been able to engage jointly with the NSW and Victorian Governments through the establishment of the Construction Industry Leadership Forum. The collaborative processes established between the two governments and the industry under the Forum have enabled us to identify and address many impediments to the efficient and effective delivery of infrastructure for the benefit of the community, and the expansion of the capability and capacity of the industry”, Mr Laslett said.
Mr Laslett went on to thank the ACA members for their collective support of the work of the Leadership Forum, and gave special thanks to Cathal O’Rourke and Scott Cummins for their personal support and commitment to the success of the ACA’s activities through the year.
